Library After School: Make It!
- The NCW Libraries are not responsible for or able to provide long- or short-term childcare or other supervision. The NCW Libraries (including any branch) is not responsible if a child or dependent is unattended or leaves library premises while unsupervised.
- Parents and/or guardians are solely responsible for the safety, conduct, and supervision of their children and/or dependents at all times while on NCW Libraries premises or while using library property or services. Each child and dependent is expected to respect library property and adhere to the rules outlined in the NCW Libraries Code of Conduct policy.
- Any child or other dependent person of any age who is unable to care for themselves and/or unable to follow the NCW Libraries Code of Conduct policy may not be left alone in the library and must have attentive supervision by a parent or guardian while on library premises and/or using library property or services.
- NCW Libraries staff will attempt to locate the parent or guardian if an unattended child or dependent's behavior is inappropriate, disruptive, or if their safety appears to be at risk. If the parent or guardian cannot be located, NCW Libraries staff may call law enforcement for assistance.
- It is the responsibility of each parent or guardian to make sure their children or dependents have transportation to and from any NCW Libraries premises. If a child or dependent is left at a library at closing time, or in the event of an emergency or closure, a staff member will attempt to contact the parent or guardian. If the parent or guardian cannot be contacted within 15 minutes after closing, staff will notify the police. Under no circumstances will NCW Libraries staff walk or drive a child or dependent home.
